Our task for this week’s
blog is to write about a life lesson we have learned throughout our life. I
guess the lesson that really applies in my life right now is to cherish every
moment like it is your last, whether it is with a person or something that you
are doing. Recently, one of my really good friends and I had a falling out and
we do not speak or even look at each other anymore. This is difficult for me
because I would tell this person everything. If I had a problem in my life, I would
talk to him about it because I knew there would be no judgment. Since that
friendship is now gone, I have been more grateful for what it was in the past.
I didn’t always appreciate the friendship. I might have even messed it up
myself. I now regret taking everything for granted. I now know that I need to
cherish every moment with the people that I care for because it may be gone one
day. It can be gone so fast that you didn’t even see it coming.
I think there's really some truth to living in the moment. Many times, I feel that people get so caught up in, "Oh, once my life is like this..", or "Well, once I've done this..", and they really forget how to enjoy themselves in the present day and the present time. Like you said, you never really know when what you have won't be there anymore. Appreciating the things and people we have in our lives right now is something we all probably need to be better at. Thanks for the song too! :)
ReplyDeleteKimmy, your blog rings with truth. Pardon the cliché, but what you said really applies to our lives as seniors. We are about to being life in the “real world,” and, for many of us this is truly terrifying. I know that I have tried to follow these words in my life since my great grandma died. When she passed away I didn’t know how to survive, or how to be happy now that she was gone. Then I realized that she wanted me to live my life to the fullest. I absolutely love your blog! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLiving in the moment now are going to be the memories that we talk about when we're older. We go through our days worried about life and about others. I say, let life happen and enjoy the ride that it is all going to take us on. We see things in such a miniscule way that we miss all the good things that happen to us everyday. We need to take a step back and really appreciate the art that our lives are.
ReplyDeleteI think that people don't realize the value of living in the moment. Many times, I feel that people get so caught up in looking forward in their life to when it will be better, but they forget how to enjoy themselves in the present. Like you said, you never really know if what you have will still be there the next day. We all need to stop and take the opportunity to enjoy where we are and what we are doing. I am going to live life with the next day and far future at equal importance to me.
ReplyDeleteKimmy, I really liked your post this week. I needed to be reminded that the moment is now, and we can't get it back when it's gone. I think that this lesson is something that people need to keep in mind. You really don't know what you have until it's gone. I didn't know that until it happened to me, too. Thanks for your post.
